LTD as clean boost? Options

Hi,

I couldn't figure out which pedal I wanted, the LTD or the DD, so after selling some old pedals off I decided to get both. They seem like a good match together. However, I've heard many reviewers of the LTD that mention it is a good "clean boost" pedal. Though I'm planning on using it as a light overdrive, not sure what "clean boost" means.

I always thought it meant what the MXR Micro Amp does... boost your signal for solos. However, I'm planning on using the DD more for solo work since I need a little more gain for sustain.

What else does "clean boost" mean then? What are some good applications for the LTD if I don't plan on using it for solo or lead work?
