The front firing 2x12 speakers provide the sound heard from the front of the cabinet. The rear firing speaker (10") provides either negative (out of phase) or positive energy (in phase) via the selector; this allows you to select the sound of open back vintage style (2x12+10" out of phase), closed back (sealed) with only the front firing 2x12 (Good ol ROCK!!), and then you can select 2x12 with the rear firing speaker in phase for an open back sound (room filling) without the bass loss of open backs and without the "out of phase sounding" side response.

Finally the cab can be flipped around to use the 10" as your single front speaker, this is a huge 10" sound, you can add in the 2x12 (now rear firing) as positive or negative energy as well, this gives you the sound of multiple 10" even though you have just the one speaker. The cab is not much heavier than a standard 2x12. The sound guy will love you because he can mike the 12" and 10" and blend the sounds, so you get the sounds of carrying two cabs...and yes, he should hit phase flip on his channel strip when using the cabinet phase flipped.

Keeping the cab sealed allows the speakers better damping, while still providing the open back sounds we love..plus a few more tricks you never heard before. The cabinet is also currently available in a 4x10 front firing, 1x12 rear firing configuration.
